2013-2014 STEM Scale-Up Programs
The Iowa STEM Scale-Up Program was launched as a way to meet the Governor's STEM Advisory Council's top priority - to increase student interest and achievement in STEM across the state.
Thanks to a $4.7 million appropriation approved by the Iowa Legislature in 2012, and - due to its success in both formal classrooms and afterschool settings - again in 2013, the Council is able offer and disseminate exemplary STEM programs to all areas of the state. STEM Scale-Up Programs are selected by an expert review panel which recommends and approves programs based on demonstrated success in increasing student interest and achievement in STEM while offering the flexibility to be implemented in any size community. The programs are administered through the six STEM Regional Hubs and the legislative investment is being leveraged by cost-sharing on the part of programmers and recipients.
